Recapping the race, part II

by on May 18, 2012

On Monday, I shared some photos I took at the 10th Annual 5K/1Mile Run/Walk to Break the Silence on Ovarian Cancer hosted by the Northern Virginia chapter of the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition (NOCC). Last weekend’s event was a great one – so today, I thought I’d share a few more tidbits about the race.

  • First up, more photos! Check out this fantastic collection of photos from the NOCC Northern Virginia Chapter. I also found a few other photos online at the Fairfax Times and the Reston Connection (scroll down to page 10).
  • Here’s a quick recap from a local blogger (and another photo).
  • Finally, I found this great article in the local news about a survivor running in Saturday’s race. She was diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer last year. After experiencing abdominal discomfort, she was sent to an oncologist. Even though all of her scans and tests came back negative,  a mass was only discovered after exploratory surgery.
